Mixed Grain Engineered Flooring

Mixed grain is milled from lumber that has been cut parallel to the trees growth rings, also known as flat
sawn. The face will have a mixture of loose flat and vertical graining, with lots of variation in pattern.
Standard mixed grain flooring will have some seasonal checking, nail holes and stains, and small,
medium and large knots. Premium mixed grain will have minimal checking, fewer nail holes and stains,
and infrequent small to medium knots. Widths start at 5” wide and go up from there. The wider the
board the more character will be present.Mixed grain is the most common lumber therefore is more
readily available and most economical for flooring and lumber.

Manufactured from heavy timber and lumber from dismantled warehouses, factories, etc. across North America. All original trees were old-growth, harvested from the Pacific Northwest in the early 20th century. Grown, sawn, built, deconstructed & remilled in America

Color Tones

Rose, blush, honey and brown tones for rich story-boards under foot.

Grain Pattern

Mixed grain floors will have both flat sawn and vertical sawn boards.
Some individual boards will contain both grain orientations.

Character

Small to medium sized knots, tight and mostly checked. Expect nail holes, nail stains and other signs of this old wood’s previous life.

Millwork

Smooth-sawn and sanded, precision-cut tongue and groove. Pre-finished or natural patina floors have a micro- bevel edge.

Also available with surface wire brushed to slightly raise grain creating a unique timeless texture

Base

½” Baltic birch 9 ply hardwood plywood. Products pass NWFA* water soak tests for durable glue bonds.

Dimensions

¾” overall thickness with ¼” thick wear layer;
2.75”, 4.5” and 8.5” widths;
Random Lengths 2’ – 8’.
12” square edge engineered plank.

Finish

Optional pre-finish, water based or oil based.
Call for other finish options. Also available unfinished.

Lead Time

Please allow 4 weeks minimum. Add two weeks per 1000 sq. ft.

Installation

For all flooring, we suggest you order a minimum 5% extra allowance and schedule delivery to the site at least two weeks prior to laying the floor. Flooring should be laid as per install guidelines of the National Wood Flooring Manufacturers Association (NOFMA).
